Tuesday…December 13…Town…After 7pm [06 Jun 2009|10:10pm]
[ mood | aggravated ]

Feet pounded the ground. Breaths froze in midair, captured by the cold. Flashing lights of the city blurred. Pain throbbed within.

Masao ran as fast as his feet could carry him. There was no destination in his run. He simply ran to run. Ran to get away from everything. To get away from Kira. To get away from himself.

Kira had abandoned him. At least, that's what he felt. He felt consumed by darkness as a sinking, loneliness fell over him. He had scared Kira away. He was trying to protect Kira, but someone had done the opposite.

He wanted his drugs, his medication. He wanted to feel the pang of the needle in his arm, injecting life into his body. He wanted the poison to punish his mind and destroy his well-being.

He wanted this emptiness to go away.

His hands formed fists and blood trickled from his palm. Anger swelled through him and his nails dug into his skin. Blood appeared on his lip from a bite his teeth had left. It felt surreal to him. Like he was watching himself run through the city.

He pushed pass people that got in the way. He didn't see them until he was already upon him. He was blind through his craze.

Images of the boys Kira had been serving filled his mind. His thought went from the guys harrassing Kira to Kira putting on a show for the boys to Kira cheating on Masao with the boys. Stinging tears added to his blindness.

Why couldn't it all just go away? Masao continued running straight ahead. He planned on going to Shige's turf and buying drugs. The way he was moving, he couldn't figure out what direction he was going, nor where he was. His feet just kept on moving forward.

Sunday…December 11…Town…3pm [03 Apr 2009|12:09am]
[ mood | surprised ]

A smile pressed on Masao’s lips as he said goodbye to his company. Two guys and one girl turned away from him and cut through the congestion of people in front of the subway. The three were from Masao’s old school, the one he attended before transferring to Gakuin High. He considered them “friends” and kept with façade of maintaining an acquaintance with them. They had met up in an expensive shopping district, away from Gakuin. Masao couldn’t risk running into anybody that knew about Kira. Their relationship was kept secret in school, but that didn’t mean somebody couldn’t suspect that something was going on between the two.

Masao had declined to ride with them; though they were getting off at different stops, they would still take the same train. He wanted to stay in the district to do some shopping. There was only one person that he even considered buying for during the Christmas time. After such a rocky past couple of months, Kira really deserved something nice. Masao wanted something that would show his affection, to show how much he cared for the other boy.

Hands in his pockets, Masao turned and slowly began walking down the sidewalks, while keeping an eye on the shops. His group had gone shopping earlier, but Masao hadn’t seen anything that stuck out. This present had to be special, something Kira would cherish. Already he had planned to take Kira out to dinner. They would travel to some fancy restaurant that already had their reservations. He already planned out a walk along the river boardwalk, a walkway that followed along the manmade river that ran through the town. The boardwalk was off to the side from the town, secluded by a stone wall. Lights lined the pathway, and at night, they would illuminate the path including the covered bridges. They would walk after dinner; Masao would have to make sure Kira brought along a warm coat. It would just be the two of them, nobody to interfere with them, not even Masao’s addictions. He had planned the day so that his time with Kira wouldn’t be a numb high for Masao. He would be there for Kira in body and mind. Masao hoped Kira would enjoy the date.

He needed something to give Kira, something Kira could take in his hands, something he could hold. Materialistic may be unimportant, but Masao wanted something precious for Kira. Jewelry was the first thought for a significant other, but Masao wasn’t too sure when the other happened to be the same gender. A few more disappointing shops later, Masao decided to check out the jewelry store.

Once the bell chimed announcing Masao had entered the shop, the associate was by his side, greeting him and offering assistance. At first, Masao declined help, but after much persistence on the sales clerks half, he succumbed. He listened as the associate talked, simply nodding or shaking his head to questions. He was led to different counters that encased the expensive jewelry. He was shown earrings, necklaces, and rings, all of which were female-esque. His frown went unnoticed as the worker suddenly let out a low “Oooh I see,” and led him to a different counter where the jewelry was styled for men. Masao’s eyes widened slowly as it dawned on him that the person knew. His breathing became more rapid and harsh as he tried to hold his composure, yet at the same time, the associates words seemed to diminish. He kept his eyes down on the contents of the counter, not wanting to look the sales clerk in the eye.

While his eyes were down, one particular ring caught his attention. He ignored the words from the guy as he got closer to the glass to see it. The associate caught on as well and began giving a lengthy lecture about the ring. He caught a little about its origin and getting matching rings. The price tag was the problem now. He could possibly come up with that much, but it would be cutting it close to Christmas and testing Shige’s patience.

Without thanking the associate, Masao left the building.

Saturday...November 26...School...1st Hour [28 Apr 2008|12:00am]

Masao had arrived at school early. The cubbies were empty as Masao changed into his school slippers. He trudged through the quiet hallways until arriving at his home room. Once inside, Masao silently took his seat.

Today was his first day back after Thanksgiving. He could still remember the painstaking events of Thanksgiving night vividly. He had not finished cleaning up the kitchen before his step father woke up again. Kenta had thought Masao was cleaning it up to spite him. He wasn't happy.

Masao had decided to skip school Friday. He was sore. The bandages he had weren't staying on the cut wound on his arm very well. He dreaded the looks from the others he would get.

Once again Kenta was angry Friday night. He found out that Masao had stayed home. The argument did not result in anything physical, however. There were plenty of words instead. Masao had no choice but to go to school Saturday.

His cut was hidden by his uniform jacket. The bruising he would blame on a street fight.

At least today was a short school day.

Thursday...November 24...Home...Evening Hours [24 Mar 2008|09:43pm]
[ mood | scared ]

Masao sat on his bed facing the lone window in his room. The sun was beginning to lower causing silhouettes of the naked tree branches that ran across Masao's face. Outside it looked chilly. The breeze took away the one last browning leaf from the tree. The leaf danced freely before plunging downwards.

The tiny droplets were falling quietly.  The red liquid would stain the bedding.  Masao lifted one of his arms which felt very heavy.  He brought his hand to his face.  The liquid was warm.  There was plenty of it.  Kenta had got him good.

The outside was motionless.  Masao sat still.  He felt that if he moved too much, he would be doing something wrong again.  His step father was already in a bad mood.  The swollen lip and bloody nose were proof enough. There was also a long cut on his upper arm.  That happened when the knife that was supposed to cut the food got mixed in with the fight.  The wound wasn't deep.

Masao lost track of time.  Clouds covered the sun now.  He feared Kenta would wake up soon.  He had passed out after his rage fit.  He was sure to have another one if the food and glass wasn't cleaned off the floor when he awakened. He didn't want to go back in there.  He didn't want to leave the safety of his small room.

He pushed the desk out of the way.  In the livingroom, his mom sat watching tv. She had covered his step dad with a blanket.  He was still asleep.  Masao didn't say anything.  He grabbed a wet cloth from the sink and got onto his hands and knees to begin scrubbing at the floor. He looked at his surroundings, taking in the food and glass.  This was going to take all night.  Kenta was sure to wake up before he finished.  He would be reminded of the argument by the mess.  He would get angry again and blame Masao for wasting food.
